Historical Overview

The Computer Engineering and network Labs of the Computer Engineering Department were opened officially in 1993 in a celebration attended by Egypt’s Prime Minister Dr. Atef Sedky. It is the main training and research facility for Computer Engineering Department. The Computer Engineering and network Labs provide the following Services:

•Training and lab for undergraduate and postgraduate students of the computer Engineering Department.

•Research facility for Faculty and researchers.

•Design, implementation and operation of information and database systems in the different areas of the educational and administrative processes within the Faculty of Engineering.

•Computer and network services for faculty members, researchers, graduate and undergraduate students.

•Internet services through the Egyptian Universities Network for the labs of other departments. 

•Operation of the Faculty network and its link with the Egyptian Universities Network (EUN).

•Providing software services for students, and researchers.

•Providing consultancy services in the areas of computer engineering, namely computer hardware, software, database, information systems, networks, intelligent computer systems, E-Learning, Mobile Computing, Cloud Computing and Parallel Processing and other related applications.

•Provide e-mail services for the faculty members of the Faculty of Engineering.

 

 

•Training for specialized student in courses for :

 - Cisco CNNA

 - Aroba Wireless Networks

 - INTEL Multi-Core and Parallel Processing.

 - Mentor Graphics Logic and Processing Design.

 - E-Learning Training.

 

The Computer Engineering and Network Labs offer many training courses:

•Basic training course in Windows, and Office that prepare the trainee for the ICDL Certification program. These including Windows, Office, Access … etc.

•Programming in different Computer languages:

 - C.

 - C++.

 - Visual C.

 - Small talk.

•Certification for Microsoft, NET. 

•Oracle Database training including:

 - Oracle Forms

 - Oracle SQL and Programming.

 - Oracle Administration.

•Microsoft SQL Database Admistartion and SQL programming.

•Web Programming ASP

•Java Programming including:

 - Java (SE)

 - Java (EE)

 - Java (ME)

•Cisco Networking Academy (CCNA) including Network Fundamentals, Routing Protocols& Concepts, LAN switching & Wireless, Wan Protocols

 

•Mechanical engineering training course including 

 - Solid works

 - Advanced Solid Works (Adv. i).

 - Solid Works (Adv ii)

 - Uni-Graphics (UGS)

 - Inventor

•Graphics & Design including:

 - Adobe Photoshop

 - Adobe Photoshop (ii)

 - AutoCad (2D)

 - AutoCad (3D)

 - AutoCad (2D/3D)

 - Corel Draw

•Civil Engineering including:

 - Primavera and Advanced Primavera.

 - Sap and Advanced Sap.

 - 3D Graphics including 3D Studio Max and Advanced 3D Studio Max (ADV)

•Microsoft Programming Environment ASP, NET.

•Microcomputer maintenance and trouble shooting.

 

The labs have also provided professional services and consultations for the following projects:

•Information Systems Design and Implementations.

•Web based Interactive and collaborative System for E-Government applications.

•Computer Network Design.

•Computer Network Management and Administration.

•Cabling Implementation and Maintenance.

•PC and logic Circuits trouble shooting and Maintenance.

•Printing and plotting facility.

The Computer Engineering Department is currently equipped with the necessary facilities to serve students, faculty members and researchers; namely:

Every Lab has a staff member managing the technical operation. One coordinator oversees the overall operation of the labs and the interactions in the operation.
